Heavy rainfall and landslides on the Karjat-Lonavala section of Maharashtra have severely disrupted the Mumbai-Pune railway route, leading to the cancellation of around 30 trains. To address the difficulties faced by passengers due to the suspension of rail services, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation has stepped in and announced 200 additional bus services on the Mumbai-Pune route from today.

Under the special arrangement, these 200 additional ordinary buses will operate along with the existing 312 E-Shivneri bus services running regularly between Mumbai and Pune. The move aims to provide immediate transportation alternatives for passengers affected by the railway disruption.

The Transport Department has issued clear instructions to all concerned depots and bus stations to deploy more additional buses immediately if passenger crowds increase at railway stations. The State Road Transport Corporation administration has been fully deployed on the ground to ensure safe, faster and uninterrupted travel for passengers during the crisis.

Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik confirmed the emergency arrangement and stated that passenger convenience remains the top priority until railway services are restored. He added that the number of buses will be increased further if required.
